Bus collides with car amid thick fog in U.P., two dead

Two people were killed and 10 others were injured when a bus collided head-on with a car amid thick fog in Amethi on Sunday, January 18, 2026, police said.
The accident took place near Babu Ganj on the Raebareli-Sultanpur highway. According to police, the collision occurred due to reduced visibility due to dense fog.
The deceased were identified as Deepak Singh (45), a resident of Anni Baijal in Gauriganj, and Rituraj Yadav (35), a resident of Kaushambi. Both were traveling in the car and died at the scene.
Four of the injured were admitted to the district hospital in Gauriganj where their condition was critical, police said.
Station House Officer of Gauriganj police station, Shyam Narayan Pandey, said, “Four of the injured sustained serious injuries while the others suffered minor injuries. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and detailed investigation is on.”
