Engineering Student Commits suicide
Hyderabad:A 20-year-old engineering student allegedly died by suicide at his home in Almasguda, Meerpet, late on Sunday night. Her family claimed that constant harassment from a man she had previously been in a relationship with had caused her serious distress.
The deceased Viharika, a BTech student at a private engineering college in Abdullapurmet, was in a relationship with Kishore, a 32-year-old decoration worker from the same locality, for six months. Although the family initially accepted the relationship and marriage, Viharika later distanced herself from him due to concerns about his behavior.
Despite this, Kishore allegedly continued to harass her with repeated calls and messages, demanding marriage and subjecting her to verbal abuse. He also allegedly threatened his family when she confronted him.
On Sunday night, Viharika went to bed after watching television with her family. When he did not come out of his room the next morning, his family broke down the door and found him dead. Meerpet police said he uploaded a WhatsApp status shortly before taking the extreme step.
His family told police he had been harassed in the days leading up to his death and was unable to cope with the abuse. Based on their complaints, the police registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kishore. While Viharika’s body was taken to Osmaniye morgue, the investigation continues.
