Senior Congress leader Charandas Mahant on Friday, December 12, 2025, announced that the party’s legislators will boycott the meetings on the opening day of the upcoming Winter session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.

Mr. Mahant, who is also the leader of the Opposition in the 90-member Assembly, stated that the boycott was in protest against the government’s move to discuss Vision 2047, the State’s own road map to contribute to the Central government’s vision of transforming the country into a developed economy by 2047.

“In the Parliament on the 14th [December, inaugural day of the four-day-long session]There will be no question and answer session, no motion to call attention or any breaks. And there would only be discussion on Vision 2047. With this in mind, I made a decision. “I am telling my colleagues before you that we have completely boycotted the December 14 session of the Parliament,” he said, after the meeting attended by Congress legislators.

Terming the Vision Document as a lie that offers only pipe dreams, he said there is nothing in it that will benefit the poor, farmers, unemployed, youth, farmers who cannot get tokens to sell their produce or the environment and ecology of Chhattisgarh.

When asked about Congress’ decision to boycott the hearings, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the party took such decisions as it was frustrated after a series of election losses in the state.
