Epstein ‘asked Andrew to introduce him to Gaddafi’

Emails show Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor meeting with a Libyan contact to help Jeffrey Epstein arrange a meeting with Muammar Gaddafi in Tripoli.

Messages included in the US Justice Department’s latest release of the 2010 Epstein files show the disgraced financier and sex offender contacted royal aide David Stern, saying: “I want to go to Tripoli, let’s organize with my father.”

Epstein later sent Stern another email, writing: “People who saw Pa asked me if I wanted to meet him because he doesn’t know what to do with his money, where to put his currencies, etc. So I wondered if Pa should make the entrance instead.”

The emails were first uncovered from the Epstein files by Britain’s Channel 4 News; It was reported that the “father” was referring to the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi to distinguish himself from his well-known son Saif.

Stern apparently consulted Andrew in a response the next day, writing: “He is considering the best approach and will meet with me when I see him in Hong Kong on October 17 (he leaves for Asia today).”

The former Duke of York made an official visit to China in October 2010 and was Britain’s trade envoy at the time.

Emails signed “A” later sent from “The Duke” to Epstein’s address read, “I will call you this evening after speaking with my Libyan contact in Tripoli to see what we can arrange for you.”

That same day, “A” follows Epstein writing, “Libya is fixed. Call me anytime.”

The emails came after UK police said they had held talks with experts from Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service about allegations Andrew shared secret reports about his role as Britain’s trade envoy with Epstein.

The planned meeting does not appear to have taken place as Epstein did not fly to the Libyan capital, Channel 4 News reported.

Epstein was found dead by suicide in August 2019 in a New York prison where he was being held on sex trafficking charges.

Elsewhere in the files, in emails from June and July 2010, “A” discussed a loan from Libya to Dubai with an investment banker named Terence Allen.

Mr Allen wrote: “In light of our discussion last week regarding Dubai, is there anything I can do for you there?”

The “Duke” replied: “Good question! I know that the Colonel is the only one who can make this decision. Since he is the ear of Brother Leader’s private office, I will ask our Libyan friend Tariq to see where the matter stands.”

Gaddafi described himself as “Brother Leader”.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been contacted for comment.
