Fish Skin Graft Saves Dog

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based veterinary doctor has given new life to a pet dog using an innovative fish skin grafting procedure. The dog, whose skin was damaged by 50 percent due to severe sepsis infection, was treated by Dr. Dr., the founder and chief veterinarian of a private hospital. He was treated with fish skin processed by Venkat Yadav.
Dr Yadav explained that treatment options for dogs suffering from toxic sepsis infections have been limited so far. Adopting regenerative methods, sterilized and carefully cleaned fish skin was grafted onto the infected area. Fish skin, rich in natural collagen, omega fatty acids and bioactive compounds, served as a temporary substitute by adhering to the wound, retaining moisture and promoting faster healing.
Dr. “This treatment accelerates healing, reduces pain and prevents infection, contributing to natural tissue regeneration,” said Yadav.
Former director of the Government Veterinary College, Prof. Lakshman called the procedure a “game changer” in veterinary wound care. “The successful accomplishment of grafting fish skin on a dog has put India on the world map of advanced veterinary treatments. This breakthrough not only saved a life but also ushered in a new era of world-class veterinary medicine,” he said.
Veterinary expert Dr Shireen added that the technique could redefine the standards of care for burn injuries, infections and complex wound cases in animals.
