Epstein files released by DOJ, Blanche says

Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein are seen in this footage released by the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., U.S., on December 19, 2025, as part of a trove of new documents from investigations into late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The date and context are unclear.

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Friday that the Justice Department will release more than three million pages of additional documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, as well as more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images.

The sweeping disclosure comes after weeks of criticism that the Justice Department failed to comply with a requirement under federal law that all files on notorious sex offender Epstein be made public by Dec. 19.

The Justice Department has not released the remainder of the more than six million total pages found to be potentially susceptible to the Epstein Transparency Act, Blanche said Friday.

Speaking at a news conference at Justice Department headquarters in Washington, D.C., Blanche said more than 500 Justice Department lawyers and other staff had spent the past 75 days reviewing potential Epstein-related material and determining what should be released under the law.

“Today we are releasing not the six million pages we collected, but over three million pages,” Blanche said.

He said no further documents would be released. Friday’s big reveal comes weeks after the Justice Department released a much smaller tranche of documents related to Epstein on Dec. 19.

“We followed the law,” Blanche said Friday. “We followed the law. We did not protect President Trump or anyone.”

President Donald Trump had been friends with Epstein for years before the two men had a falling out in the mid-2000s.

“We don’t have a top-secret tranche of documents on Jeffrey Epstein that we keep,” Blanche said.
