Stating that Dharmendra Pradhan brought many reforms in the field of education, former Minister KS Eshwarappa said that the Union Education Minister was forced to resign due to mistakes made by someone else.

Addressing a press conference in Shivamogga on Monday, Mr. Eshwarappa said Mr. Pradhan was a determined and honest leader who was appointed to take responsibility for matters in which he was not involved. He recalled that when Mr. Pradhan was the president of the State unit of the BJP, the party was in charge of Karnataka and traveled extensively across the State to strengthen the party organisation.

Mr. Eshwarappa also said that the students’ protests over the NEET-UG paper leak issue was not a movement but a riot and alleged that they were supported by forces hostile to the country. He further remarked that the Congress had misled the prosecutors for its own political gain, and added that the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was strong and that nobody could weaken it.

He also criticized the Congress government in the state for delay in filling Cabinet vacancies. “There is no minister responsible for the districts. The Prime Minister holds review meetings with civil servants, but there is no minister to examine the drought situation on the ground,” he said.
