Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked for pardon from President Isaac Herzog regarding the corruption cases against him.
Al Jazeera reported, citing a statement released by the president’s office on Sunday, according to ANI. The amnesty process includes consultation with the Ministry of Justice and consideration of the public interest.
Meanwhile, Mayor Herzog’s office accepted the request, stating that it would be considered responsibly.

Mr. Herzog’s office said, “The Office of the President recognizes that this is an extraordinary request with significant consequences. After receiving all relevant comments, the President will consider the request in a responsible and candid manner.” he said.

The request comes amid ongoing legal battles and after US President Donald Trump called on Herzog to pardon Netanyahu, calling the case “unfair.”
