Wild way police found convicted child rapist, Michael Angok, five days after fleeing custody in Sydney

Police have charged a convicted child rapist who escaped from hospital after finding his shoe outside a home in Sydney’s west.
Michael Angok, 30, was on the run for five days after escaping custody while being transferred from Villawood Immigration Detention Center to Bankstown Hospital shortly after 9.30am on Wednesday.
The search lasted five days, with the canine team, Raptor and Polair units forming a perimeter and searching the Bankstown area.
Police claimed to have found a pair of shoes belonging to the man outside the house where the crime scene was determined.

Police confirmed Angok was taken to Blacktown Police Station where inquiries are ongoing.
He has since been charged on an outstanding warrant and denied bail.
He is due to appear in Blacktown court on Monday.
Police are investigating his whereabouts before his arrest and whether Angok was being housed.

The footage shows the man being taken to the police station shortly after his arrest.
The fugitive, wearing a gray sweater and dark trousers, walked towards the police station in handcuffs.
Angok was found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Doonside park in February 2014 and was released in 2017, The Daily Telegraph reported.
He was receiving medical treatment at the hospital when he escaped from the hospital around 9.30am on Wednesday morning, Detective Superintendent Brett Van Akker told reporters.
Angok was due to be deported from Australia when he escaped.
