Ex-Arsenal star Thomas Partey charged with five counts of rape

Former Arsenal footballer Thomas Partey was accused of rape two women.

Metropolitan police said that the midfielder was facing five points rape and a number of sexual assault after the crimes between 2021 and 2022.

“Rejects all the charges against him” and “finally welcomes the opportunity to clean the name,” he said.

Jaswant Narwal from the CPS said: “The Royal Prosecutor’s Office Service carefully reviewed a comprehensive evidence file of Thomas Partey today, and after a lot of rape.

“Our prosecutors worked closely with the officers of the metropolitan police to review the evidence and make advice on appropriate accusations.

“We remind everyone that criminal proceedings are active and that the defendant has the right to a fair trial.

“In this announcement, we know that there will be an important public interest, but it is certainly vital that there is no information reporting, comment or online information sharing that may be prejudiced in any way.”

Hickman and Rose’s lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said that his client rejected all the charges.

“During his three -year investigations, he completely cooperated with the police and CPS.

“Now he finally welcomes the opportunity to clean his name.

“Considering that there are currently ongoing legal proceedings, my client cannot comment more.”

Metropolitan police said that the investigation into Partey started in February 2022 after receiving a rape report of civil servants.

Detective Director Andy Furphy, who led the investigation, said, “Our priority continues to support the prominent women.

“We want everyone who is affected by this case or everyone who has knowledge to talk to our team.”

In 2020, Partey joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid with a transfer of approximately 45 million £.

Last season, he played 35 matches for North London Club in the Premier League and scored four goals.
