Ex-FBI chief Comey pleads not guilty to charges

Former FBI Director James Comey claimed that he was innocent at his first hearing, the Ministry of Justice’s first investigation against one of the President Donald Trump’s political enemies.

He is accused of making wrong statement and blocking congress investigation.

On Wednesday, Comey, through his lawyer Alexandria, the federal court in Virginia, claiming that he had lied to Congress five years ago, claiming that he was not guilty against the allegations of lying.

Defense lawyers will probably take action to reject the indictment before the hearing, claiming that the case means a selective or revenge prosecution.

The accusations were brought by Lindsey Halligan, former personal lawyer of Trump, who was appointed as the Chief Public Prosecutor of Virginia in the US last month. Trump forced his predecessor to dismiss his predecessor because of his silence on trial.

Comey is accused of knowing the wrong statement when he said that during a hearing in 2020, a republican senator did not give anyone the authority to serve as an anonymous resource in the news about the FBI investigations.

The indictment is accused of giving a FBI employee the authority to disclose information about a federal investigation.

Although the identity of the investigation is not specified in the indictment, Trump seems to be related to his rival Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 elections.

It does not contain details of the evidence against Comey.

Comey confessed to be innocent and called for a trial.

Trump has threatened to imprison his political rivals since the beginning of the 2016 presidential campaign, but the case against Comey has managed to provide a great jury indictment against one of them for the first time.

Trump’s Ministry of Justice is also investigating James, California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff and other opponents, including John Bolton, who served as the National Security Officer during the first presidency of Trump.

Hours before the hearing, Trump prepared to deploy the national guard troops during the increase in sanctions against immigrants in the city, while both of them called for the Mayor of Chicago and the governor of Illinois, both democratic.

According to the Reuters/IPSOS survey, which was completed on Tuesday, only one of the four Americans participates in the statement of the Ministry of Justice without fair and political intervention.

Halligan, who had no experience of prosecution and previously worked as an insurance lawyer, presented the evidence in the case to the big jury.

According to Reuters, career lawyers in the office have previously prepared a draft of grades that called for the lack of evidence to reveal a possible cause of committing a crime.

In an unusual movement, the government assigned two federal prosecutors from a different office in Raleigh, North Carolina to address the case.

The charges against Comey came shortly after Trump complained to the public that there was no action on the case.

The Ministry of Justice’s willingness to respond to Trump’s demands represents a violation of decades of norms that have been trying to isolate US law practitioners from political pressures.

A graduate of more than 1000 Ministry of Justice from the Republican and Democratic administrations has recently signed a letter against Combe, which condemns the case against Commey as an “unprecedented attack on the rule of law”.

In his first period as president, Trump expelled the FBI’s investigation of Trump’s investigation into the 2016 presidential campaign and the contacts between Russia.

The dismissal led to a political storm, and the investigation led to the appointment of special prosecutor Robert Mueller, who followed a large part of Trump’s first presidency.

Mueller’s investigation ultimately concluded that there was not enough evidence to establish a conspiracy.
