President Donald Trump receives prayer from Iowa restaurant patron

President Donald Trump paused at a restaurant stop in Iowa after a customer asked if he could pray for him ahead of the president’s speech near Des Moines.
Video shared on X by White House aide Margo Martin shows the moment at the Machine Shed restaurant when a man in the crowd addresses Trump directly.
“Can I pray for you right now?” the man asked.
When the man began to pray, Trump bowed his head and replied, “Absolutely! Come on. Let’s go.”

In a short prayer, joined by others in the restaurant, they thanked God for the president and asked for wisdom, understanding, peace and protection.
“Lord God, we thank you for this president,” the man said during the prayer. “Lord, we thank him and the potential. Thank you for your continued wisdom, we pray for understanding. Pray for hope, we pray for more peace, Lord.”
The prayer of the restaurant owner caused many people in the surrounding crowd to say “Amen”.

The unscripted moment occurred as Trump stopped at an Iowa restaurant before heading to give a speech in the Des Moines area to kick off his 2026 midterm campaign.
The video shows patrons standing nearby as the prayer ends, followed by applause and words of praise: “Amen, thank God.”
The White House recently shared a national invitation To prayer and spiritual rededication ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
In a statement released by the administration, Trump encouraged Americans to pray for the nation and its people, saying the country has long been “sustained and strengthened by prayer.”
