Freedman stable flying high into 2026 after stellar year

Outspan ($7), a Bivouac colt, will enter the first two-year-old plate (1000m) after two trials.

“He’s a nice colt and I think he’s slowly improving as he works at work,” Freedman said.

“Although the 1000m on Saturday is a sharp touch for him, I think he is a colt who can improve on that and see the value of going over 1100 and 1200. He is a beautiful, big, strong horse and I can’t wait to see him run.

“It’s always a bit difficult to know where they’ll be heading into the autumn, but we’ll give him a chance and see where he goes. He’s got solid trial form and a nice base and I was happy with his gallop on Tuesday.”

Four-year-old Brazen Beau mare Cinsault made her debut for James Cummings in her ninth start and backed that up with a close win over 1200m at Canterbury in her first race for Freedman. She was the $3.80 favorite for sixth place, the 78 handicap (1400m) criterion for mares and mares.

“It was a good effort to get over 1,200,” Freedman said.

“That night, it was a track dominated by the leaders. He was in a head-to-head race, but it still wasn’t easy to make up ground there. He pushed himself and I think he came out of the race.”

“It’s a bit of a jump in class, but it’s got a nice, smooth pull and I think the 1400 would be a good fit.”

At Eagle Farm, Ninja, a top $4 choice for the MM Guineas at Gold Coast on January 17, was the $2.50 favorite in the Vo Rogue Plate at gate 12.

“He’s in good shape,” he said.

“It’s a bit of a difficult barrier so hopefully he can get some luck from there.

“We have 28 boxes on the Gold Coast so we keep that pretty much full with some of the local horses that Lee keeps there and obviously I send horses from Sydney to race there too.

“I hope it will work as a good platform for the Magic Millions carnival and the winter carnival.”
