Explosions rock Dubai as Iranian drone strikes causes buildings to shake in city’s financial centre: Live updates

Iran war spreads to Iraq as US jet crashes and French soldier dies in drone attack

The war with Iran spilled into Iraq after a US jet crashed after a suspected mid-air collision and a French airbase burned to the ground, killing one soldier after a drone strike.

A rescue operation is ongoing to find the American refueling plane and its crew of at least three people.

As the conflict entered its 13th day, a US aircraft involved in a military operation against Iran ‘crashed’ in western Iraq with no signs of enemy or friendly fire.

A huge fire appears to have broken out after the drone attack at the French air base in Erbil, Iraq.

A helicopter was apparently shot down and at least six French soldiers were injured. President Emmanuel Macron confirmed one had died early this morning.

‘Their presence in Iraq is part of the strict framework of the fight against terrorism. “The war in Iran cannot justify such attacks,” he said. ‘The French soldiers there have no connection with war or conflict. ‘They are merely military advisors legally present in Iraq’.

It was also reported that there was an explosion near Erbil International Airport, where the US Consulate and the US military base are located.
