Family Suicide Attempt At Krishnagiri Dam Leaves Two Dead

TIRUPATI: On Wednesday, a suspicious mass suicide attempt of a family from Kuppam took place at the Krishnagiri Reservoir Project in Tamil Nadu. Police suspects that the internal contention may have directed four members of the same family to try to end their lives.
According to the police, two people died in the incident. The deceased person was defined as the 50 -year -old Lakshmana Murthy and his 70 -year -old mother -in -law Saradamma. Two surviving members, Murthy’s 40 -year -old wife Jyothi and his 20 -year -old daughter Keerthika were rescued and taken to hospital.
Police said that the family of the Jayaprakash of the Jayaprakash road in Kuppam had entered the waters of the Krp dam together at an attempt to suicide. The fishermen in the field managed to withdraw Jyothi and Keerthika from the water, but they drowned before Lakshmana Murthy and Saradamma were rescued. Their bodies were taken later.
The survivors Jyothi and Keerthika then ran to Krishnagiri State Hospital for treatment. Preliminary investigations point to the possible reason behind the extreme steps and financial difficulties. Local police has registered a lawsuit and continues to investigate.
