KSEB official arrested on charge of accepting bribe

The Ernakulam unit of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested an assistant engineer of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹90,000 from a builder. The arrested person is Pradeepan N., a resident of Kaloor and working at KSEB’s Thevara divisional office.
He was caught red-handed while accepting the amount from the complainant near a bus stop in Thevera around 6 pm. “The complainant approached VACB after the official demanded a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh to make temporary power connection permanent in a newly constructed building in Panampilly Nagar. He will be produced before the court on Thursday,” said CM Varghese, DySP, VACB, Ernakulam unit.
