African asylum seeker ‘raped’ girl, 10, at migrant hotel | UK | News

The national police force is currently investigating the alleged rape of a 10-year-old Irish girl by an asylum seeker. The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a foreign male who was staying at a Dublin hotel that houses International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) applicants. It was learned that the refugee was of African origin. The incident reportedly took place on the grounds of the Citywest Hotel in the Irish capital on Monday morning.

Irish national police officers were alerted to the scene where they found the 10-year-old girl. He is reportedly currently in the care of Tusla, the Government’s Children and Families Agency. The little girl was treated Irish Mirrorbut was not housed in the hotel in Dublin. Investigators continue to investigate how the woman entered the facility.

Authorities are investigating whether the suspect resides in the refugee accommodation facility recently purchased by the Government to host immigrants.

The suspect was arrested at the scene and is currently being questioned by Gardaí. It is understood that the little boy was taken into care following the incident that allegedly occurred on-site, not within the hotel itself.

Gardaí told The Irish Mirror: “Gardaí are investigating an alleged assault on a teenage girl which is reported to have occurred on Monday 20 October 2025 in Saggart, Co. Dublin.

“A male in his 30s was arrested and is currently being detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin area under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations are continuing.”

The Citywest hotel has been rented by the Government since 2020, first as part of the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. In 2022, it was converted into a transit center and accommodation center for Ukrainian refugees and people seeking international protection.

The government has reportedly purchased 6.7 hectares of land in Ireland for €148 million to turn it into a permanent international protection accommodation centre.

A total of 18,651 people will apply for asylum in Ireland in 2024, surpassing the previous record by more than 5,000.

The highest year on record before this was 2023, when 13,264 people applied for international protection.
