Viral AFTV star Ty throttled by football steward in ugly altercation following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland

Viral AFTV star Taiwo Ogunlabi, known as Ty, got into an ugly argument with an official following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Sunderland on Saturday.

The Gunners fan, known for his overly optimistic take on his beloved club, appeared agitated during an exchange with Black Cats fans and was forcibly stopped by a steward in tense scenes.

Video footage of the incident In this photo, the referee can be seen holding the Arsenal fan close to his throat and pushing him away from the opposition fans.

Launched in 2013, AFTV (known as Arsenal Fan TV before the club asked its YouTube channel to change its name) became an internet sensation due to the often exaggerated reactions of passionate fans who were going through a difficult time for the club.

A staunch defender of the club and often seeing the positives even after the toughest of performances, Ty is known to have once blamed the rain for the defeat against Watford.

It was a rare night for Arsenal, with their plucky Premier League newcomer defense twice breached. Brian Brobbey’s late strike saw the home side come away with a deserved point.

And then the scenes turned ugly, with Ty being choked by an official and seemingly thrown out of the stadium concourse.

Ty screams as the steward forces him out into the street before another man arrives and tries to pull the fan away from any conflict.

It is not yet known what triggered the altercation and whether the steward was employed by the home team or the travel team. Sometimes away clubs get their own referees.

Arsenal fans watched in shock as their 10-game winning streak was shattered by Regis Le Bris’ newly promoted side.

Sunderland took the lead after 36 minutes thanks to Dan Ballard’s barnstorming strike, which caused a volcanic reaction in the Stadium of Light stands.

However, in the second half, Arsenal turned the game around by making the most of their possession.

First, Bukayo Saka punished Sunderland with a powerful strike past Robin Roefs after Enzo Le Fee was caught napping in his own third.

Leandro Trossard then gave the visitors the lead by firing from outside the penalty area near the top corner.

This looked like the winning goal until the 94th minute when substitute Brobbey had other ideas.

Brobbey parried Gabriel and met Ballard’s header before firing an acrobatic shot past David Raya.

Although Sunderland dropped to fourth after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Wolves, there was turmoil in the north-east as Sunderland secured a point to move third in the Premier League.

Daily Mail Sport has contacted Sunderland for comment.
