The district unit of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha held a protest at Gursunagi Village Cross in Wadagera taluk of Yadgir district on Thursday and demanded immediate action against T. Wadagera Gram Panchayat officials who were distributing houses under the housing scheme to ineligible beneficiaries.

The farmers said that despite repeated calls, memorandums and reminders to the Wadagera Taluk Panchayat, Tahsildar and Zilla Panchayat, detailed records of misuse of public money and irregularities in distribution of houses under the housing scheme, no action has been taken against the officials so far.

Authorities threatened farmers who complained to higher authorities despite their irregularities. They said farmers’ organizations will no longer tolerate such mismanagement by officials and will launch more agitations in future if action is not taken against those involved.

Protesters also demanded action to ensure cleanliness in rural areas as sewers in many villages remain unclean and residents face the threat of epidemics.

Later, the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Panchayat Lavish Ordia and withdrew their protest when he assured them to take action.

The protest was attended by the organisation’s district president Sharanu Mandarwad, Mallikarjun Satyampet, Malkanna Chinti, Prabhakar Reddy, Bhimanna Naik, Mallanna Neelahalli, Fakir Ahmed, Bhimaraya Yelheri, Balaji T. Wadagera and others.
