FBI Director Kash Patel defends Fulton County election hub search warrant

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed the agency had probable cause when executing a search warrant at the Fulton County polling station.
Patel said investigators conducted a “thorough” investigation before taking action.
Court records show the order covers material related to the 2020 election. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that fraud overturned the results of Georgia, a state he narrowly lost to former President Joe Biden.
“The FBI follows the facts and the law, and President Trump and the attorney general have given us clear authority to reduce crime in this country and investigate anything that rises to the level of probable cause,” Patel said on “Saturday in America.” he said.

Patel later added: “The FBI and the Department of Justice went in and collected a lot of evidence that the judge gave us the authority to collect.”

Fox News Digital reported that the order allowed agents to collect physical ballots, tabulation tapes, electronic ballot images and voter lists from the 2020 election.
The call came days after Trump called for renewed litigation over the 2020 election. “People will soon be judged for their actions,” the president said in Davos, Switzerland.

Patel said investigators are reviewing a “voluminous” amount of information collected during the search and the investigation is ongoing.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was also in the area as agents executed the arrest warrant. His presence drew criticism from Democratic lawmakers who said his involvement in the local search warrant operation was unusual.
Trump addressed Gabbard’s presence on Thursday, saying, “She’s working hard to keep the election safe, and she’s done a great job.” he said.

He also confirmed that the FBI had a signed judge’s order, adding: “You’ll see some interesting things happening. They’ve been trying to get there for a long time.”
A Georgia grand jury indicted Trump and more than a dozen defendants for alleged efforts to undermine the 2020 election results. The case was dismissed by a Fulton County Superior Court judge in November 2025.
