Just Eat lists its most popular takeaways as kebabs and chicken korma fall from top 10

Britain’s takeaway habits have undergone a culinary revolution over the last two decades; kebabs, fish and chips have now been overshadowed by Korean fried chicken and Pad Thai.
Just Eat has shared its top 10 favorite takeaways on the platform to show how tastes have changed since its launch in the UK two decades ago.
The takeaway giant, which started in the UK with a modest offering of just seven cuisines including Italian, Indian, burgers, Chinese, kebabs, fish and chips and chicken, has now expanded to more than 100 options, with additions including Bangladeshi, Brazilian, Greek and Nepalese dishes.
Once-dominant dishes of 2006, such as doner kebab, fish and chips and chicken korma, have been replaced in the top 10 takeaway rankings by the likes of Korean fried chicken, French fries and Pad Thai.
Just Eat said growing interest in healthy living, as well as social media trends, have played a key role in driving the most popular choices in recent years.
TikTok’s influence has also led to increased demand for foods like Japanese-inspired matcha products; these products more than doubled orders on Just Eat last year, increasing by 120 per cent with 120,000 searches.

Dubai chocolate, another social media favorite, has also been in high demand, with related products seeing a massive increase of 2,684 percent in 2025.
Leigh Phillipson, Just Eat’s commercial director, said the company had seen social platforms such as TikTok “having a real impact on the popularity of orders, with Korea experiencing a boom in the last few years thanks to shows like Squid Game and the music of Blackpink”.
“Products such as matcha and fiber drinks, which most Brits would have puzzled over in 2006, are on the rise in line with healthy living trends,” he said.
Just Eat said it first introduced sushi on its platform in 2008, then added Thai in 2009 and Korean only 10 years ago.
However, according to the data, some classic dishes still remain popular; The group confirms there are still more than 11,000 independent Indian restaurants on the site.
“Despite more choice than ever before, British favorites such as Indian, Chinese and fish and chips are more popular than ever,” Mr Phillipson said.
“Independent restaurants remain the beating heart of our platform and a force for good on our UK high streets.”
