Friday rush hour commuters faced queues on the M62 following a crash on the motorway this morning.

National Highways confirmed in a statement that the collision, which occurred in the early hours of this morning, resulted in a car overturning.

Two lanes were closed.

National Highways said: “J11 (Warrington Birchwood) CLOSED on M62 westbound at Cheshire LANE 2 lanes (of 4) following an earlier collision resulting in a car overturning.

“Police investigation ongoing. A 2.5 kilometer traffic jam is approaching the scene.”
