Ferrari has ‘full confidence’ in team boss Frederic Vasseur, says chairman John Elkann

Ferrari president John Elkann said the company has “full confidence” in team principal Frederic Vasseur.

The Italian team has had a difficult season and is in danger of falling to fourth place in the constructors’ championship after reaching second place at the start of the year.

Lewis Hamilton won the sprint race in the Chinese Grand Prix, the second race of the season, giving them their only victory this year.

Elkann’s comments follow a report claiming Ferrari is talking to former Red Bull team boss Christian Horner about taking over from Vasseur.

He said: “I would like to express our full confidence in our team principal Fred Vasseur and the work he is doing together with all our colleagues at Scuderia Ferrari – technicians, engineers and drivers racing in Austin this weekend.

“I also want to reaffirm the importance of everyone’s teamwork to stay focused on the only goal that matters: always doing our best on the track.”
