Finnish President’s Jog with Canadian PM Turns into Chat About ‘Dhurandhar’

London: An ordinary morning run attended by Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney unexpectedly brought an Indian espionage saga into global political debate. In a video shared by the Finnish president on his handle In the clip, Stubb and the Canadian prime minister are seen jogging with their wives during Carney’s visit to London. During the exchange, Carney questions Stubb about his recent rise in popularity on Instagram in India. The Finnish president explained that the interest came after comments he made about watching ‘Dhurandhar’. “How was your Instagram relationship in India?” Carney asks in the video.
Stubb said the response was “huge” after revealing he had seen the film. Evaluating the story, he adds that after watching the film, he realized that the subject matter depicted in the film “is not a game at all”, referring to the depiction of terrorism and intelligence operations. The video has since been shared widely online, with many viewers noting the unusual intersection of international politics and Indian cinema.

Speaking to ANI, he revealed that he watched ‘Dhurandhar’ on his son’s recommendation before going to India. The Finnish president said he found the story intriguing and even joked that it was “part of the narrative,” adding that he was looking forward to the continuation.
In the film, Ranveer Singh plays secret agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi and blends espionage drama with a story focusing on counter-terrorism operations. The sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is scheduled to release in theaters on March 19 and special previews will be held on March 18. The sequel sees Singh reprising his role, this time deeply embedded in the criminal underworld under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari. The story follows the rise of gangster Rehman Dakait, played by Akshaye Khanna in the first film, in Karachi’s Lyari district after his death. The new episode expands the narrative from personal infiltration to a broader national security threat. The story introduces a terrorist organization that Rangi is trying to dismantle from the inside, and Major Iqbal, played by Arjun Rampal, emerges as the main target. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt as law enforcement officer SP Chaudhary Aslam and R Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal.
