Fire breaks out in ticket-issuing office in Nellore railway station; stationery burnt

A fire broke out at the ticket counter at Nellore railway station on Monday, March 16, 2026. However, there was no loss of life.

A fire broke out in the stationery section while the staff at the ticket office was distributing tickets.

Seeing the smoke, the staff closed the toll booth and warned the railway authorities. Fire crews came to the scene and extinguished the flames.

South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada division Public Relations Officer Nusrat M. Mandrupkar said, “Some stationery items were reduced to ashes in the incident. However, the ticket rolls were not damaged.”

“The ticket office remained closed for about an hour and staff later resumed duty. The cause of the fire was not immediately known,” Ms Nusrat said. Hindu.
