Fire Guts Company That Ignored Safety Warning

Hyderabad:A major fire broke out in the five-storey building of Croma Polymeras at Dulapally in Petbasheerabad on Thursday evening. The company reportedly ignored fire officials’ warning about the lack of fire safety measures.

While there was no loss of life, it is estimated that one person suffered burns. Jeedimetla station fire officer V. Shekhar Reddy said the cause of the fire was being investigated but it was suspected to have been caused by a power outage.

Authorities, who received a distress call from company employees around 19.15, sent seven fire trucks to extinguish the fire that broke out on the first floor. The entire floor and raw material, including plastic bags, were completely evacuated, officials said. The operation ended at 03.30 on Friday. “We had earlier warned the company that security measures were lacking, but they ignored this warning,” said SFO Shekhar Reddy. Petbasheerabad police registered a case and started investigations.
