Fires erupt after missiles intercepted and debris rains down | World | News

Two significant fires broke out in Abu Dhabi after the missiles were neutralized by air defense systems.

Abu Dhabi Media Office confirmed that two fires broke out near the Khalifa Economic Zone in Abu Dhabi on March 28. According to officials, the fires were triggered by debris falling from the sky.

A spokesman for the Abu Dhabi Media Office said: “Authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi are addressing two fire incidents in the vicinity of the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD areas, which were caused by falling debris following the successful interception of a ballistic missile by air defence, and updates will be provided to you as soon as they are available.

“The authorities urge the public to obtain information only from official sources and to avoid circulating rumors or unconfirmed information.”

Khalifa Economic Zones are located between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Gulf News, five Indian nationals were confirmed to have minor to moderate injuries.

This follows an earlier incident in which two people were killed when debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell onto a street in Abu Dhabi, destroying vehicles and injuring three others.

The incident took place early this morning on Sweihan Street, a major highway connecting important parts of the city.

The debris of the missile, which was blocked by air defense systems, rained down and damaged many vehicles.
