‘First weeks would turn into a decade…’: Meta Director Chaya Nayak joins OpenAI, shares lessons from Facebook role

According to LinkedIn data, Chaya Nayak, the Product Management Director of the Large Technology Company Meta and Productive AI Director, joined Major Openai in August 2025.

In the social media post, Nayak remembered how he was working for Facebook and how he joined the company called ‘Good for Data’, an initiative that shows data and how artificial intelligence/machine learning can benefit the world.

Nayak said, “What started as a brave experiment has become the foundation of my career,” Nayak said.

Chaya Nayak said he didn’t expect the first few weeks in the technology giant would have almost ten years of job role.

Nayak said, “What I didn’t know was that the most important experiences of my life would turn into about ten years,” Nayak said.

What did Nayak learn in Meta?

Chaya Nayak emphasized how she trusts her role on Facebook (Meta) and how to chase ‘daring ideas’ for the company with confidence, courage and flexibility.

He said that he was successful enough to create a colleague and friend who plays an important role in career growth.

Nayak said, ım I grew up as a leader along the way. When things did not go as planned, I learned courage to chase brave ideas. Most importantly, I established a colleague and friend who shaped me and inspired me in every step of the road, ”he said.

Nayak’s contribution to Facebook

Now, former Product Management Director and Meta’s productive artificial intelligence Chaya Nayak had spent eight and eleven months in the company before joining Openai, led by Sam Altman.

For years, Nayak focuses on how Meta gives him the opportunity to build products in crisis and support communities with disaster maps.

The big technology company also gave him the opportunity to work on the Facebook Open Research and Transparency Team (Fort), which allows him to work in data cleaning, differential privacy and data clean rooms, and helped the company to create tools to share data.

Nayak helped the company wandered in moments such as the 2020 US elections, and published a few articles with the best researchers in magazines such as science on the influence of Meta on elections and democracy.

In the last 2.5 years in Meta, Nayak worked on productive AI and after three generations of lama and meta AI.
