Five details from the Philosopher’s Stone book we want to see in the new TV show
Trailer for the first season of the new Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, It sparked a heated debate online: Does pop culture intellectual property need to continue to be renegotiated? Does the series have an aesthetic that is too similar to the first film, as the trailer suggests?
But the biggest problem is with the plot; Die-hard fans are eager to see what was lost in the movies being revived in the TV series set to air on HBO Max in Christmas 2026.
Philosopher’s Stone It is the shortest of the book series, but despite this, many small details and interactions were skipped in the 2001 movie adapted from JK Rowling’s novel. Now they can easily be included in the longer eight-episode series, making the story much richer.
Here are five we’d like to see on screen.
1. Makes poltergeist angry
Peeves, the mischievous ghost who haunts Hogwarts, is an agent of chaos who was sorely missed in the first film. Since he mostly moved within walls, he was a constant source of distress and pain to everyone in the school; The only people who could control him were the Bloody Baron and Albus Dumbledore.
He helped wisecracking twins Fred and George Weasley with their antics, and opposed Dolores Umbridge in the fifth book, when she was Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, High Inquisitor, and eventually Headmistress at Hogwarts. Peeves’ character also helped fight Lord Voldemort during the Second Wizarding War.
2. Destroy the Centaur
Although the beloved centaur Firenze was included in the film adaptation, many fans noted that another centaur, Bane, was omitted. Bane is a fiercely anti-human centaur who lives in the Forbidden Forest and berates Firenze for saving Harry from Lord Voldemort, who disguises himself as a hooded figure and drinks unicorn blood. By saving Harry, Firenze challenged his pack’s belief that they should not interfere with the fate of the star that predicted Harry’s death.
3. midnight duel
Draco Malfoy was a lying, scheming bully in the first movie. Believe it or not, it’s even worse in the book. In the novel, Draco challenges Harry to a midnight duel in the trophy room. There’s something Harry doesn’t know much about, it’s a trap; Draco never appears, leaving Harry and his companions to be captured by Filch, Hogwart’s caretaker.
While running away from the grumpy babysitter, Harry and his friends accidentally discover Fluffy, the three-headed dog; This creature is the very creature that guards the door to the philosopher’s stone. The plot thickens immediately.
By the way, Draco’s cunning plays no part in this discovery in the film. While trying to escape Filch after returning from Hagrid’s hut, Harry, Ron, Hermione and Neville find themselves in the third floor corridor, and their discovery of Fluffy becomes even more fortuitous.
4. Battle Quirrell
In the final battle scene Sorcerer’s Stone In the movie, Harry’s touch burns Quirrell and he begins to melt. Meanwhile, the battle scene in the book focuses more on the connection between Harry and Voldemort and how being close to each other causes severe mental pain to the point of Harry fainting.
5. Second Quidditch match
The entire Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff failed to qualify for the final. The fact that Snape is the referee of the second match in the book increases the suspicions of the Gryffindors, who believe that he tried to kill Harry in the first match.
However, the match was short-lived as Harry caught the golden snitch about five minutes into the match, making it one of the shortest matches in Hogwarts history.
