LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neill said in a statement: “We have amicably and mutually agreed that Brooks Koepka will no longer compete in the LIV Golf League following the 2025 season. Brooks is prioritizing his family’s needs and staying closer to home.”

“We appreciate the significant impact he has had on the game and wish him continued success both on and off the field.”

PGA Tour policy banning players from joining a rival league requires them to sit out one year from their last participation. Koepka started his career on the European tour and would have the opportunity to play there.

LIV ended its season on August 24.

While the PGA Tour did not offer any context, it did take the rare step of acknowledging the move involving a player who is no longer a member.

In the statement made by the tour, it was said: “Brooks Koepka is an extremely successful professional and we wish him and his family continued success.”

“The PGA Tour continues to offer top professional golfers the most competitive, challenging and rewarding environment in which to pursue excellence.”

LIV Golf announced that Talor Gooch will replace Koepka as captain of the four-player Smash GC LIV Golf team.
