Great Koala National Park announced by NSW government
The proposal connects the state forests to existing national parks such as Bindarri, Dorrigo, New England, Guy Fawkes, Chaelundi and Nymboi-Binderay to protect the state forests in total. According to the drone surveys assigned by the government, the state forests contain approximately 12,000 KOAL and 36,000 larger glider, both extinct species.
Ecologists believe that protecting the remaining Koala habitat as much as possible and connecting to the coastal paintings will give animals the chance to get rid of the destruction of climate change in the best way.
Environmental Minister Penny Sharpe said the Great Koala National Park has been a dream for more than a decade ”.
“Koalas will survive the future, so that our grandchildren will still see them in the wilderness,” Shape said. “These amazing old growth forests, big glider, strong owls and yellow belly gliders, including more than 100 threats, hosting the genre of the world’s best biological diversity is one of the best hot spots.”

One of the reasons for the delay was that the government had to evaluate very different allegations about forestry and timbering works. The Lobers of the Lumber Industry, 2023 Ernst & Young reported that the parking sector-local forest diary and eucalyptus plantations-parks in Northeast NSW, including 5700 NSW claims to support 8900 direct and indirect business. WWF talks about the 2024 analysis by Frontier Economics, which he appointed, and puts this directly to 1070 direct work throughout the state.
The government concluded that the park will cost 200 to 300 work between the NSW Forest Company, harvest and transport contractors and timber factories. Forestry Corp workers will be placed in the roles in NPWs if they choose to transfer.
Dedicated Aborigin Rangers will be employed through Aborigin controlled organizations to work on the domestic cultural heritage in Park.
