New BCCI president was Virat Kohli’s captain when his father passed away – Here’s what he told him

Mithun Manhas is preparing to take on the role of the new BCCI president. He presented his nomination on Sunday, September 21st. More importantly, the former cricket player previously represented Delhi in a local cricket and participated in 55 games in IPL.

The new president of the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) Mithun Manhas is considered a ‘bright’ and ‘street smart’ individual who understands when he will be in the right place in Delhi and what to say at the time of the opportunity. Many jokes about him are circulating because of his days in the Delhi cricket. In his speech with the news agency PTI, a former cricket player who wants to stay anonymous, Virat Kohli’s captain said that when he died in a tragic way during a Ranish Cup match against Karnataka in December 2006, he was the captain of Delhi. He remembered how Manhas knew the appropriate action to do that critical time instinctively.

“Mithun, Virat lost his father in the midst of a Ranji game and Delhi was in trouble. Mithun told Virat to go home and insisted on playing Mithun accepted.” He said.

He also remembered that Manhas had a mastery to be friends with the right individuals who benefited his IPL career: 514, 109.36 strikes, running in 55 matches, but did not get half a century or century.

“On the other side, most of his friends were strong international players such as Viru (Virender Sehwag) and Yuvi (Yuvraj). Despite a modest T20 recording, Delhi played 55 IPL games for Daredevils (Captain), Pune Warriors and Kings Xi Punjab (Yuvraj (Yuvraj).

Manhas’ name emerged unexpectedly because it was not part of the negotiations before the meeting. He started his career in the 1997/98 season and played 157 first -class matches and made an average of 45.82 and 9714 running. He had a reliable tendency that could be a bowl, but he never reached the Indian team because Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly and VVS Laxman in the middle order.

In the native cricket, he seized Delhi in the Range Cup and took them to victory in the 2007/08 season. That year, he gave a good example by throwing 921 runs at 57.56 on average. He played 221 matches in the white ball jack, but he could not find the chance to play for the national team. He played for India before he retired in 2017.

Manhas played 55 IPL for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Pune Warriors India (now invalid) and Chennai Super Kings. In these matches, 109.36 strike rates scored 514 running.
