Livvy Dunne bats against boyfriend Paul Skenes NL Cy Young winner

There is a loss of trust in most couples. For Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne, trust is built elsewhere.
The former LSU star gymnast traded in her leotard for a bat and helmet while helping her boyfriend, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ star pitcher, do some training before the start of spring training.
In a video posted to Instagram Stories, Dunne was seen in the right-handed batter’s box, taking some pitches from Skenes, who could hit triple digits with his split-second fastball.

While Skenes didn’t appear to be going 100%, Dunne still stood in the batter’s box as the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner’s practice partner as he deployed his arsenal of pitches.
“The ultimate test of confidence,” Dunne wrote in her post.
Dunne and Skenes have been dating since 2023, and the former has been spotted eyeing the latter pitch around the country as he quickly builds his fame in the MLB.

Skenes was named the National League’s top pitcher last season after having a major-league-best 1.97 ERA in 216 strikeouts. He was named to his second All-Star team in his sophomore year and became the first pitcher since Dwight Gooden to win the Cy Young Award after winning the Rookie of the Year Award.
Dunne celebrated her boyfriend’s latest success on X: “Cy Young Skenes has a nice voice.” He was also seen celebrating Skenes winning the award with friends and family at the selection show after the 2025 season.

Before entering his third MLB season, Skenes will represent the United States in the World Baseball Classic, joining the tournament’s star-studded roster that includes AL Cy Young Award-winning Detroit Tigers star Tarik Skubal and reigning AL MVP New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge.
“This is something special,” Skenes told local reporters at Citi Field after announcing last season on MLB Network that he would join the 2026 WBC. “Growing up watching the World Baseball Classic as a kid, I never thought I’d get the opportunity to play in one. So I said to myself, ‘If I had the opportunity to do it, I couldn’t pass it up.’ Here we are.”
So, these bullpen reps alongside Dunne are crucial, given that Skenes will step things up much sooner in hopes of winning the WBC in his first round.

Skenes has been outstanding on the mound since entering the league following his college career at Air Force and LSU.
He has a career 1.96 ERA with 386 strikeouts in 320.2 innings pitched in 55 starts.
