Floods hit Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa leaves trail of destruction

Flooding has hit Jamaica’s capital, Kingston, as Hurricane Melissa moves across the Caribbean, with up to 30 inches (76 cm) of rain expected in some parts of the country.
Roads are closed in the capital and some residents are wading through floodwaters to clear traces of debris.
Local government minister Desmond McKenzie said the whole country was “feeling the brunt of Melissa”, now a category four hurricane.
