Two Florida teenagers will be tried as adults after a grand jury indicted them on premeditated murder in the death of a 14-year-old girl who was shot multiple times and set on fire.
Gabriel Williams, 16, and Kimahri Blevins, 14, were indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree premeditated murder for allegedly taking Danika Troy to a wooded area in Pace before killing her, the Attorney General’s Office said Friday.
Williams and Blevins will be tried as adults and held without bail in the Santa Rosa County Jail. The hearing in both cases was held on January 8, 2026.
Danika’s mother reported her as a runaway on December 1. The next day, a passerby found her body in a wooded area in the Pace area of Florida’s Panhandle. Investigators said he was shot multiple times and set on fire.

Investigators quickly identified the suspects as Gabriel Williams and Blevins, two teenagers who knew Danika from school, and took them into custody.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson described the murder at a news conference after Danika’s body was found earlier this month.
THE MOTHER SAID THE CLAIM OF THE BEARDIST WHO KILLED HER DAUGHTER SHOULD BE TRIED AS AN ADULT
“This is where it gets really scary,” he said, noting that Williams allegedly stole his mother’s gun before shooting Danika. “It’s bad enough you kill a 14-year-old. You’re 14. You’re 16. Shoot him multiple times, then they set him on fire.”

The suspects were allegedly friends of the victim from school, Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson told reporters. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the incident, he said at a press conference on December 4, 2025. (Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office)
The reason for the murder remains unclear. Johnson stated that the explanations offered by the young people at the time “do not comply with forensic science or any facts in the case” and added, “therefore we have no legal basis.”
Detectives initially believed the murder may have stemmed from an argument on social media over the Thanksgiving holiday. The boys claimed they targeted Danika because she blocked Blevins on social media and called Williams “trashy and a gang member,” according to the sheriff’s office.
