North Melbourne captain Jasmine Garner wants the AFLW grand final to be moved to Marvel Stadium but Roos coach Darren Crocker doesn’t think the competition is ready for the move yet.
North Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions will play in their third consecutive grand final at Ikon Park tonight and tickets have sold out again given the 12,500 capacity at the aging suburban ground.

A number of commentators have called for the AFL not to shift this year’s decision to the 53,000-seat Marvel Stadium, stating that the game should not deter any fans from attending the biggest AFLW game of the season and that fans will arrive at the ground in much larger numbers with better facilities and more public transport options.
Garner was asked for his opinion on the issue Friday and said players want to play on a bigger field every chance they get.
“I think we’d all love to play at Marvel Stadium; when you watch the guys on TV, you can see it’s a great stadium,” Garner said.
“[But] I also know there will be a lot of North fans coming here tomorrow night. For now we love playing here.

“But hopefully one day we can pack Marvel.”
Crocker warned against rushing to a big stadium, saying he likes to have a crowd close to the capacity of his players at a venue like Ikon Park.
“We love playing in front of a full stadium here,” Crocker said.
“We have great support in a good, full stadium.
“Once the game can truly justify filling Marvel Stadium, then I think it will be time to move it.
“I’m not sure. But I know that one day, when the game can afford it, the players would love to play at Marvel, and I’m sure as coaches we’d love to coach there, too.
“I’m not sure if we can sell it at this stage.”
