Sydney coach Dean Cox spoke on Fox Footy about arms acquisitions and Errol Gulden’s return.
Question: To the Swans fans there tonight, what are you looking forward to that will make them see things differently?
– Cox: Apart from turnover, we want to change the way we play. So the ability to try to place our weapons in positions that can do a little bit more damage. We spent a lot of time doing this over the summer. And you know, I think with a playing group and obviously with Charlie (Curnow) there too, hopefully he can get to the bottom of that, but be part of a really damaging forward line that works together for each other.

Q: Now you basically have all the magnets to choose from. How do you maximize that talent, especially the big three of Errol Gulden, Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney?
– Cox: This is the part we need to work on. Will they always be on the ball? Errol spent a little more time with and in front of the ball. He is an outstanding winger, we can always use that. The one thing we want to make sure we do is put him in the middle of the pitch where his passing can really try and test opposing teams. And yes, Isaac and Chad are both guns in front of the ball.
Q: How did Charlie handle this buildup?
– Cox: Oh, he’s good. He was nervous at the beginning of the week. And there’s no doubt he’ll have mixed emotions when he gets here and the match starts. So we have to make sure he can reconcile. This isn’t about him trying to score as quickly as possible. It’s all about getting the ball in. If he can’t mark, he should at least halve, take down, chase and apply some pressure. So he’s going to control those kinds of moments, but yeah, it’s a big night and he’s got big shoulders to carry it.
