CP Commends Conviction Efforts

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar on Wednesday appreciated all stakeholders for their coordination and efforts that led to the conviction of 18-year-old Asham Aakash Kumar of Lalaguda, who was sentenced to 25 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) in the Pocso Act case.

Student Kumar sexually assaulted his 16-year-old minor after taking photos of her. XII Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Nampally sentenced him to 25 years RI and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 for the attack. Commissioner Sajjanar lauded the prompt investigation and inter-departmental coordination that ensured justice for the minor child survivor.

Mulugu SI, police on ACB Net

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday issued Ch. Vijay Kumar, sub-inspector of Mulugu police station under Siddipet commissionerate, and his driver Raju, an armed reserve police officer, for accepting bribes at the police station.

Kumar, through Raju, had demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in exchange for an official favor regarding the eviction and possession of a residence belonging to the complainant’s elder sister. He also promised assistance in a cheating case filed by the complainant.

The tainted amount of Rs 50,000 was seized from Raju’s possession. The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons.
