Forget The iPhone 17 Pro

We’re seven weeks away from iPhone 17 pre-orders starting on September 12, and Apple still hasn’t been able to keep up with demand (though the iPhone Air is much more readily available than Apple would like). BGR has been tracking iPhone 17 delivery times every Friday since September 12, following stock volatility in key markets in North America, Europe, and Asia. Unlike previous years, it’s not just the latest Pro and Pro Max models that are seeing longer delivery times. With its affordable price and Pro class features, the standard iPhone 17 was highly appreciated by consumers.

Seven weeks after pre-orders began, the base iPhone 17 model was sold out in several markets; Shipping delays take 2-3 weeks for all color and storage combinations. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is also available online in some countries, but others are keeping up with the demand. iPhone 17 Pro availability also worsened in France and the UK compared to last week, but improved in the US. iPhone Air stock restrictions appear to be limited to China only. Interestingly, Japan is the only country among the countries we track where all four 2025 iPhones can be purchased online without shipping delays.

Our findings align with what analysts have been saying for much of October. While the three versions of the iPhone 17 are popular with consumers around the world, the Air is selling poorly in most markets except China. Top reports only this week Strong sales of iPhone 17 Pro Max in the USA and popularity of standard iPhone 17 In the first 10 days of sales in China, in other stories Apple to significantly reduce iPhone Air production.

Every week we track iPhone 17 delivery estimates in the US, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, China and Japan. We used the same online purchasing simulation for each of Apple’s native online stores, looking at all possible storage and color combinations for the four models. The following shipping estimates are accurate as of the morning of October 24:

  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 2-3 weeks (USA, Canada, Germany, China), 7-10 business days (UK, France), in stock (Switzerland, Ireland, Japan)

  • iPhone 17 Pro: 2-3 weeks (Canada, Germany), 1-2 weeks (USA), 7-10 business days (UK, France), in stock (Switzerland, Ireland, China, Japan)

  • iPhone 17: 2-3 weeks (USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Ireland, China), in stock (France, Germany, Japan)

  • iphone air: 5-7 business days (China), in stock (USA, Canada, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Japan)

Our findings are easily replicable, but there are caveats. We have no idea how much stock Apple has allocated for each of these markets and how much supply is available in physical retail stores. Additionally, estimates may change throughout the day as Apple updates availability and continues to sell new iPhones.

If you placed an order in the past few weeks, Apple has either shipped your order or is preparing to ship it to you. If you buy one of the out-of-stock iPhone models today, you will have to wait anywhere from 7 business days to 3 weeks, depending on the market and model. Other markets are likely to deal with similar stock discrepancies. Finally, electronics stores and mobile operators may offer different shipping estimates depending on the market. Your best bet will be Apple’s online and retail stores if they are available in your area.
