Former AFL umpire Troy Pannell in court over theft, driving charges

A court heard that former AFL referee Troy Pannell suffered from anxiety and depression and has not been able to communicate with the family since his arrest of theft and accusation.

The 48 -year -old Pannell arose on Tuesday through the video connection at the Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court, and although the accusations were not publicly explained by the court, it has nothing to do with the $ 8.7 million saga epic in front of the Victorian Supreme Court.

Pannell, wearing a Kırcı and a dark sweater, did not speak and cut an unauthorized figure during the 15 -minute hearing before Denise Livingstone.

Lawyer Astrid Haban-Beer, representing Pannell, said his client was in psychiatric care.

On June 8, Pannell was involved in an accident on the Daylesford and Malmsbury Road near the Wheatsheaf in Western Victoria’s countryside. After stopping for the Victoria police, he fled the minibus road and hit a tree. No other vehicle participated in the accident.

He was treated at Alfred Hospital, but was arrested by the police for theft and driving crimes on Sunday, June 15th.

Haban-Beer, “There are some important custody problems. Mr. Pannell for the first time in custody, under the risk of self-harm, is currently experiencing depression and gets rid of a traffic accident,” he said.
