Former CJIs Justice Chandrachud, Justice Khehar to give presentation before JPC on simultaneous polls

On Friday, the former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Justice Dy Chandrachud and Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar came to Annexe to attend a common Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting that examined an election proposal.

At the meeting, two former chief justice, the Constitutional Committee (one hundred and twenty -ninth amendment) law, 2024 and the Union Region (Amendment) Law will make a presentation in front of the Committee on the simultaneous elections in 2024.

In the early hours of the day, PP Chaudhary, Chairman of the One Nation of JPC, and Bharatia Janata Party deputy PP Chaudhary, said that most people and leaders in different states support the idea of ​​simultaneous elections in the country.
After visiting five states and a union region, Chaudhary said that many political leaders support the proposal of many political leaders, civil society members and authorities, but some were concerned.

The authority added that the committee will take the issue seriously and that the old chief justice of India would give the opinion that the idea would help to understand whether the idea complies with the Constitution.


Speaking with the memory, Chaudhary said, “We went together with a working tour to five states and a trade union region to gather ideas about a nation, an election idea. In Maharashtra, we met with the leaders of political parties, the leaders of political parties, government officials and civil society members.
