Former Greens leader Adam Bandt appointed Australian Conservation Foundation CEO
Former Green leader Adam Bandt was appointed as the next general manager of the Australian Protection Foundation.
Mr. Bandt, which manages the greens in the federal parliament and represents Melbourne voters for 15 years, will manage the rooted environmental organization from January 2026.
“It is a real privilege to help manage the most respected voice of Australia for nature and climate at such a critical time,” Bandt said in a statement on Monday. He said.
“Climate collapse begins, nature in crisis and the parliament that can avoid disappearance.
“This can be the best parliament for nature and climate. We are doing a test that we hope to meet politicians.”
Mr. Bandt takes over from the current general manager Kelly O’shanassy, who has been leading the organization for the last 11 years.
ACF Chairman Ros Harvey said that Mr. Bandt was chosen for the highest job after a “meticulous search en covering more than one country and more than 300 candidates.
“Mr. Bandt has the vision, courage and experience of Australia to meet the upcoming challenging years while dealing with the destructive climate change and accelerating nature destruction of Australia.”

The Board unanimously supported the appointment of Mr. Bandt as the general manager.
The ACF was founded in 1965 and serves as a lobby group for the environment.
The organization says that by 2030, 80 percent of coal, gas and uranium exports want to change with renewable energy.
Mr Bandt was booked from Parliament alongside the other four green members in Labour’s 2025 Federal election landslide.
Sarah Witty from Labour has a Melbourne chair covering the suburbs of Carlton, Fitzroy and South Yarra after providing 53 percent of the votes after preferences.
The greens now have Elizabeth Watson-Brown, who is only a member of Ryan’s Brisbane seat in Parliament.
Mr. Bandt attributed his loss to a redistribution that selected more workers’ voters and general strategies to shift his votes to labor to keep the former liberal leader Peter Dutton away from power.
In his privileged speech, he called on the Labor Party to be more brave in the next parliament.
Bandt, “the government can no longer reform any independent senator can not blame – Medicare’e stopping the teeth, stopping new coal and gas mines or re -balance housing tax cuts is the government itself,” he said.
Mr. Bandt was first elected in 2010, two years later he became the leader of the greens, and then led the party from 2020.
