UK high street retailer closes all stores after crashing into liquidation – all jobs axed | UK | News

A bespoke jewelery chain has closed its high street stores and been forced to lay off its entire staff following liquidation. Ringmaker, which has two sites in Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed liquidators to liquidate Holkar Ltd and parent company Ninety Four Ltd.

Rumors had been flying for weeks that the chain was in trouble after suppliers and customers reportedly had difficulty reaching anyone at the firm. A source told Glasgow Times: “There have been rumors for a while that business was in trouble. I had heard suppliers say that when they tried to contact no calls were answered and no emails were answered. Apparently this was just adding to the bills.”

They added: “The jewelery business in Glasgow is so competitive that customers do not have the money to spend as in previous years. It is truly sad to see such a respected firm go bust like this.”

The company has been producing personalized jewelry since 1985 and calls itself “pioneering engagement and wedding ring designers.”

Azets’ joint provisional liquidator Blair Milne confirmed that all nine staff had been released.

He said: “The two companies employed a total of nine people, all of whom unfortunately had to be made redundant and this process had been initiated before our appointment.” Birmingham Live.

“We will assist employees with claims relating to the Redundancy Payments Service and protect companies’ assets while arranging their sale to provide a return to the company’s creditors.

“We have returned most of the jewelery belonging to customers of both businesses and would encourage anyone with any questions regarding this case to contact the provisional liquidators via the Azets website.”
