Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa issues FIRST statement after being charged in son’s death: ‘Those who are…’

Appearing before the media for the first time, former DGP Mustafa made a statement. Denying the allegations, he said, “Aqeel was suffering from drug addiction for the last 18 years. He was a patient and Punjab Police was aware of his condition.”
Former Punjab DGP Muhammad Mustafa has denied allegations of ill-treatment and torture in the death of his son Akeel Akhtar. While criticizing complainant Shamshuddin Chaudhary, he attributed it to drug overdose and suggested that those making false allegations would face consequences.
The death of former DGP’s son Akeel Akhtar sparked controversy when he was found dead under mysterious circumstances in August. A pre-recorded video has emerged in which the 35-year-old man accuses his father Mohammed Mustafa of having an illicit affair with his wife. He also alleged that his mother, former Cabinet Minister Razia Sultana and his sister were part of a conspiracy to kill or falsely implicate him.
The video was submitted to the police by their neighbor Shamshuddin, who filed a formal complaint for a detailed investigation into the matter.
What did the former DGP of Punjab say about the allegations?
Appearing before the media for the first time, former DGP Mustafa made a statement. Denying the allegations, he said, “Aqeel was suffering from drug addiction for the last 18 years. He was a patient and Punjab Police was aware of his condition.” The complainant explained that he was neither a relative nor an acquaintance of Shamsuddin. “He came to me only once for a case. Now he is accusing me and my family out of revenge and political motivation,” he added.
Mustafa also said that the police did their duty when the complaint was received, and the truth will come out after the investigation. “Those who plan this with malicious intent also need to understand that these are very serious allegations,” he said.
Meanwhile, Haryana police launched an investigation into the death of Akeel Akhtar, who was found dead in his house in Panchkula on October 16, following allegations of murder and personal argument. According to reports, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted under the supervision of an ACP rank officer. The SIT will conduct an in-depth and scientific investigation into all aspects surrounding the case.
