Police officials immediately took life-saving measures, but despite all efforts, Linda did not survive. After a week of extensive investigation, William Stevenson was arrested.
Police said in a press release that Linda Stevenson’s body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of her death.
William Stevenson was previously married to Jill Biden (Jill Tracy Jacobs) from February 1970 to May 1975. They both married when Jill was an 18-year-old student at the University of Delaware and Stevenson was 23.
Later, Jill Jacobs met then-US senator Joe Biden in March 1975.
Currently, William Stevenson remains in custody at Howard Young Correctional Facility after being unable to post $500,000 bail.
However, Joe and Jill Biden have not yet made a statement on the issue.
