Tour de France 2025 results: Tim Wellens cruises to maiden Tour win on stage 15
During this year’s race, Pogacar claims the fifth stage for the UAE.
“A very special victory, Welle Wellens said. “Everyone knows France, but many people did not win in Tour de France, so it was very nice.”
Following three challenging days in the Pirene Mountains, the remaining 166 rider encountered a transition phase before the second and last rest day of this year’s tour.
The scene seemed ready for a distinctive win, and Wellens felt the opportunity at the end of three categorized climbing, and took Pasu Du Sant above 55 km.
Wellens, Michael Storer, Quinn Simmons and Victor Campeanaerts, along with a group of eight people appeared on the rise.
The group briefly reformed Carcassone for a long time, but a few minutes later, Wellens attacked with 44 km, and chasers never resembled closing the gap.
“I felt very good today,” Wellens added. “I felt really good in the last climb of the day. I knew the others felt really good, but I knew I had to go solo.
“I knew I had to enjoy the moment and I had to continue to drive to the end, so I had a big gap to enjoy it, and maybe after the finish, I put my bike in the air – but I was very happy to forget to do it.”
