Delhi Court Sends Anmol Bishnoi to 11-Day NIA Custody

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Wednesday sent Anmol Bishnoi, accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, to NIA custody for 11 days. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) nabbed Anmol, brother and close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, under tight security at Patiala House Court around 5 pm after the federal agency arrested him following his deportation from the US.

Special Judge Prashant Sharma sent Anmol to NIA custody for 11 days following the agency’s request that the accused be interrogated in custody for 15 days.

Speaking to reporters outside the court, Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) Rahul Tyagi said that the accused will be produced before the court again on November 29 after completion of NIA surveillance.

The prosecutor said, “He is a very important member of the terrorist gang. He has very important information. He was running the syndicate and was one of the key members.”

He said the NIA had sought his custody on the grounds that it would reveal the modus operandi, source of funds, involvement of other persons and functioning of the union.

“We are trying to find out how he escaped from India,” the SPP said.

Heavy security measures were taken in and around the court building, including the deployment of the RAF. Members of the media were not allowed to enter the hearings.

Anmol, wanted in connection with the murder of NCP leader Siddique, firing at actor Salman Khan’s house in April 2024, the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala and other crimes, was “removed” from the US on Tuesday. He was detained in the USA in November last year.

US-based Anmol, who has been on the run since 2022, became the 19th accused arrested for joining the terrorist gangster organization led by his jailed brother Lawrence Bishnoi.

“Anmol was booked by the NIA in March 2023 following investigations in the case where he was found to have actively assisted terrorists Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi in carrying out various terrorist acts in the country during 2020-2023,” NIA said. he said.
