Four men in their 20s who were killed in 2am car crash in Huyton are pictured: Families pay tribute

A photo was taken of four young people who died after hitting a power pole in a traffic accident that occurred at 02:00 at night.

Jack Diggle, 23, Benjamin Dooley, 23, Andrew Roberts, 24, and Craig Shackleton-Brady, 26, were traveling in a black Cupra Formentor in Huyton, Merseyside, when the vehicle went off the road on Friday.

While the men were pronounced dead at the scene, the fifth passenger, a 27-year-old, was taken to hospital.

The families of the four men have now paid tribute, describing them as ‘thoughtful’, ‘loving’ and ‘beautiful’.

Mr Diggle’s mother said: ‘Jack was a gentle, quiet, thoughtful and loving man. He adored his family, and we loved him with all our hearts.

‘Jack was blessed with a wonderful group of friends, many of whom have been with him for most of his life.

‘He loved playing football with them and was a proud Everton supporter. ‘He also had a passion for darts, whether he was watching or playing himself.’

He added that Mr Diggle was going to Blackpool to watch darts with friends that week and that it was something he was ‘looking forward to’.

‘Jack and I went out to dinner together on Thursday. It was a lovely time, just mother and son enjoying each other’s company. “Little did I know that this would be our last time together,” he said.

Mr Dooley’s mother Kerry said her life was ‘torn apart’ after the tragic collision.

He said: ‘I’m waiting for you to walk through the door and say ‘are you okay mom’, you were the kindest, heart of gold person I have ever met. Do anything for everyone… You are loved by everyone who meets you. ‘I can’t tell you how much I miss you, it hurts so much.’

‘It feels like a terrible dream, I miss you so much already, the laughs we made and the memories I will cherish forever. ‘I love you until we meet again, brother.’

Mr Roberts’ mother Linda said: ‘My beautiful blue-eyed boy, I can’t believe I even have to write this. My dear son never does wrong, my life will never be the same with you here. My heart will be broken forever. ‘I love you from my mother, son.’

Mr Shackleton-Brady’s family added: ‘Craig was a truly good-natured family man whose love, loyalty and generosity impressed everyone who knew him. Craig was a devoted and loving father to his two children who were always at the center of his world.

‘His pride in being a father shone through in everything he did, and the love he showed his family will live on in their hearts forever.’

Inspector Paul Holden said his thoughts were ‘first and foremost with the families of the four men who sadly lost their lives’.

He added: ‘This is a truly devastating moment for their families and loved ones and our priority now is to get answers as to how the collision happened.

‘We understand this happened very early this morning, but if anyone saw the incident or was passing the area just before it happened please get in touch.
