Denmark expands military service to include women

Denmark has expanded military service in a way that the Scandinavian country tried to buy more troops and strengthen their defense among increasing security concerns in Europe.
In accordance with a law adopted by the Danish Parliament in June 2023, Denmark will ask for women to be 18 years old at the age of 18 after 1 July 2025, in line with the current measures for men to register for the potential military military service.
So far, women, who made up about 24 percent of all recruitment last year, were allowed to participate in the army voluntarily.
A recruitment at the Danish Royal Life Guards said, without giving Reuters his surname, “We need to have more soldiers in the world we are currently in, and I think women need to contribute equally to it,” he said.
In Denmark, volunteers register for consultation first, while the remaining numbers are drawn in a lottery system.
Armed forces, barracks and equipment are in the process of making more appropriate adjustments for women.
Katrine, “There are different things to develop especially in terms of equipment. Currently it has been done for men, so maybe the backpacks are a bit too big and uniforms are great.” He said.
Last week, NATO Military Alliance agreed to increase defense expenditures with its allies, Denmark plans to increase the duration of the desired time from four months to 11 months in 2026 to 11 months and to increase the number of recruitment from 5000 to 7.500 in 2033.
