JD Vance due in Hungary to back Orban’s re-election bid

Hungary, almost alone among EU countries, has opposed Brussels’ calls for Russia to give up fossil fuels. In Washington, Orban also pledged to buy more liquefied natural gas (LNG) and US nuclear technology and fuel from the United States. Hungary is heavily dependent on Russian oil from the east via the Druzhba pipeline and on Russian gas from the south via the TurkStream pipeline.
